# Amtul Shahida

> Amtul Shahida is Pakistan's first collaborative scriptwriting company. We bring writers together in one room to craft dramas and films that stay with audiences long after the screen goes dark. The company is named after the mothers of its founders, Adeel Afzal and Saad Azhar — the first storytellers they ever knew.

## About

- Pakistan's first collaborative scriptwriting ("writers' room") company, based in Lahore.

- Named after Amtul and Shahida, the founders' mothers; the name reflects the belief that stories grow stronger when they are shared.
- Where traditional Pakistani scripts are written in solitude, Amtul Shahida debates, tests, and sharpens every script with many writers before a single scene reaches the screen.

## The Collaborative Model

Every script passes through five stages, in order, with no shortcuts:

1. The Pitch — a premise is defended out loud; only premises that survive the room move forward.
2. The Breaking — the room maps the entire story, episode by episode and beat by beat, so plot holes die months before a shoot.
3. The Draft — one lead writer gives the blueprint its voice, keeping the coherence of one author with the depth of many.
4. The Table — the draft is read aloud scene by scene until dialogue sounds spoken, not written.
5. The Polish — the script is aligned with production realities: locations, budgets, cast strengths, and censor considerations.
